This month we start with a rather minimal yet paradoxically large ‘Zone’ by Elgato, raising the bpm from 120 to 150, and finishing off again with a masterful Lone track from his album Galaxy Garden, featuring Machinedrum on the vocals. We also have features from 3 other outstanding albums, including Actress’ R.I.P, Distal’s Civilization, and Lazer Sword’s Memory, all highly recommended. Stand out tunes from the mix have to be Logos’ rude laser anthem ‘Kowloon’ and Baauer’s supercrunk remix of Krueger. Enjoy.

Quite a bassy Londoney affair last month for me, of course accompanied by a dash of European and American bass music from French Fries’ ballroom influenced ‘Yo Vogue’ to Helix’s Night Slugs white label 505 rave extravaganza ‘Drum Track’ (renamed ‘No Hook No BS’ as the vocalised version with MC Flirta D). Get all these tracks wherever you can. Peace.

After the brilliant releases of Mosca’s ‘Square One’ EP and Egyptrixx’s ‘The Only Way Up’ EP, the Night Slugs record label have yet again found innovative, genre-defying music in new London artist Girl Unit. His ‘I.R.L.’ EP again boasts intelligence in the revelling new UK funky//2-step// dubstep//garage styley which we’ve all come to embrace for its unpredictability, originality and general ambience. The EP also includes a remix by one of my favourite French producers at the moment, French Fries. Check out the remix of Roulet’s ‘Kitmanda’, which is altogether a more tropical and dance floor friendly affair, and the mix.

Ages since a nice big juicy post. Above is a picture of one of the birds from Roska’s teaser video for ‘Squark’ which was released on his Rinse record recently, and a brilliant record it is. Accompanying ‘Squark’ is a bit of everything including garage, funky house, electro, heavy dubstep and even a bit of gypsy house! Nice.

Sorry for not doing a best of 2009 like we said we would everyone. I mean I did my half of the post, but SOMEONE didn’t and SOMEONE is a lazy bastard. But enough persecution, here are some really quite superb tracks to ease the pain and in some cases cause more.

Here’s an array of tracks thumping around the 128 bpm mark.
When it comes to making electro bangers, Blatta & Inesha top my list. This track is no different, some massive usage of the Mightyfools sample pack!
KICK-OH – STOMPIN FT. DREW (BLATTA & INESHA STOMP ON YA PUSS REMIX)
Another release from the my up and coming artist Beataucue. Here they dum it down a bit, staying away from loud squeaky synths and bringing a massive amount of rhythm and smoothness yet keeping their trully penetrating kick drum. They remix new tribal/tech house producer French Fries who I also highly rate, look out for some of his releases.
FRENCH FRIES – PREDATOR (BEATAUCUE REMIX)
Released late last year, The Subs have created an Egyptian techlectro masterpiece! Really loving this one.
THE SUBS – MITSUBITCHI
This track was released even later last year, an absolute fucking banger from Japanese geeza Apajai. Nasty dirty bass.
AJAPAI – WHAT DO YOU HEAR
Blog Fluokids and Scion A/V have teamed up to make a 5 track sampler to represent their 5 years in the blogosphere. Here’s one off the sampler by tech hero Renaissance Man with their usual high quality.
RENAISSANCE MAN – FLUTE LOOP
I posted a few Alvaro tracks in 2009, I think he produces some really good ravy tribal house. I can’t seem to find him on myspace though, so I kow nothing about him! Here’s another great track by this elusive man.
CHELLEY – TOOK THE NIGHT (ALVARO REMIX)
Lee gets down and wobbly once more, this time remixing Cold Blank.
COLD BLANK – LOS ANGELES (LEE MORTIMER REMIX)

More and more ethnicity is coming into the forefront of house and were loving it. Syncopating bongos, infectious cowbells and the renowned afro-beat are a few aspects of this tribal/funky house business I only came to terms with a few months ago. One new artist, first brought to my attention by Squeegie Sounds blog (as per usual), is French Fries with a fresh, unadulterated take on tribal house. His remixes of The Bloody Beetroots and The Very Best (Radioclit side project) show afro happiness, whilst the original is more of a techy bleeper. If you’re into this scene, you’ll love this.
One of my favourite artists at the moment, and a hot tip for the future is Beataucue. Tribal/tech/electro, can’t really place him. One simple consistency I find with his music however is a proper thumping bass drum which really boosts the whole sound. This remix of funky boy Solo is no different whilst also incorporating a punchy high synth.
Round table Knights! Nuff said.
This remix by English funksters Zombie Disco Squad is absolutely bongo ridden! Get yo funk on bitch!
This minimix by DJ Manaia isn’t quite the ambassador for bongos and cowbells, but it does reek of afro-beat. I’d especially like to point out the unreleased original track ‘King Kong’ which is a fucking nasty evil banger! Look for the 20 minute mark.
01. Tinny – Zingolo (Doorly Rmx)
02. Buraka Som Sistema – Luanda Lisboa (Nic Sarno Rmx)
03. Genghis Clan ft Mr. Catra – Gatinha
04. A1 Bassline – Here Come Da
05. Diplo & Laidback Luke – Hey! (Black Noise Rmx)
06. Josh Makorto – Jump (Dj Manaia Rmx)
07. Soda N Suds – Fuck House (Dj Manaia Rmx)
08. KuBo ft Joyce Muniz – And You (Dj Manaia Rmx)
09. Dj Manaia – King Kong
10. Dre Skull & Juiceboxxx – Get Hype
11. Kill Frenzy – Violent Kids
12. Drop Top – Triple Play (Dj Manaia & Klipar Rmx)
13. Sub Focus – Could This Be Real
