I’ve always had a bit of thing for Indian music, so finding these releases have been most satisfying! Sitar Beat is a compilation of various funk enfused physcadelica pieces from Bollywood soundtracks of the 60’s, 70’s and 90’s. Think Beyond The Wizard’s Sleeve and Kill Bill with a touch of beautiful Indian singing on some. The first volume was released in 2006 then each volume a year consecutively after. Thank you The Gaslamp Killer’s ‘We Make It Good’ mix, what a great man. Sitar Beat is perfect for the summer and a really interesting listen, get your acid heads on. Here’s some of my faves from Vol. 1 and 2.
klaus doldinger – sitar beat
kalyanji anandji – dharmatma theme music (tommy’s edit) (off The Gaslamp Killer’s mix)
serge gainsbourg – new delire
serge gainsbourg (with michel colombier) – physcastenie (miles’ drum edit)
biddu (with mahar and anand) – hum tumhe chate hain (edit)
s.d. narang – everybody dance with me
This mix was originally meant to be my mix to relax or work to, but the fact that it frequently made me get up and start dancing (like a twat) made me think it deserves to be uploaded onto the mighty blogosphere. So here it is! We start off in Bamoko, Mali then onwards through Africa and eventually into Asia (mainly India). The next stop is South America and then we have a brief spell in Jamaica and finally we end up in some gypsy camp near Russia. There’s a mix of tribal, midget, funky and tech house. Enjoy! (most of these tracks are available from the blog)

The original of this track has already been posted, and the Chimpo remix, their both tight. But check funky house hero Roska’s remix, its ridiculously happy and danceable. One of the best bassline’s I’ve heard in a while despite its subtlety, a sexy beat and the sick vocals of Zed Bias makes this one of my tunes of the year so far.
This next one I discovered whilst checking out Camel’s February chart. Another ridiculously happy house tune with a more simple but sick bassline. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!!
And here’s some lovely midget ethnohouse from the man himself Camel and Yolanda Be Cool.
Sorry for not doing a best of 2009 like we said we would everyone. I mean I did my half of the post, but SOMEONE didn’t and SOMEONE is a lazy bastard. But enough persecution, here are some really quite superb tracks to ease the pain and in some cases cause more.

Beataucue have released a new remix of Jennifer Delano’s ‘Amsterdam’. It is of course brilliant, with their signature deep thumping kick drum pulsating under clever bleeps and cheeky synths. It’s more progressive than their earlier work, building up into rhythmic bliss and down again. Beataucue have some more remixes coming out soon which sound equally superb and better. Looking forward to the release of their remix of Sound Of Stereo’s classic ‘Zipper’.
JENNIFER DELANO – AMSTERDAM (BEATAUCUE REMIX)
AND ANOTHER THING! Another few more things. Lee Mortimer has been back to his best for a few months now. These two newish remixes caught my eye recently, both with grinding basslines, check em out.
BASSMONKEYS, BIANCA LINDGREN – GET BUSY (LEE MORTIMER REMIX)
FUTUREHEADS – STRUCK DUMB (LEE MORTIMER REMIX)
This next track was released for free on French label Bebup’s EP featuring Douster, Jay Weed and Arcade. A tribal feast, this track is slightly more techy than tribal however. Get the whole EP for free below as well.
ARCADE – JUGO CARIOCA & DARIO POPULAR (DOUSTER REMIX)
BEBUP – EPISODE 1
Tracklist:1. Arcade – Jugo Carioca & Diario Popular (Douster Remix)
2. Arcade – Jugo Carioca & Diario Popular
3. Douster – Allelujah
4. Douster – Allelujah (Jay Weed Remix)
5. Jay Weed – Asimbonanga
6. Jay Weed – Asimbonanga (Arcade Remix)
That was a bit pointless posting the track and the EP, oh well. Next up is Joker remix of Sub Focus, up to his usual purple mischief.
SUB FOCUS – COULD THIS BE REAL (JOKER REMIX)
LA’s experimental electronicmeister Nosaj Thing has produced an atmospheric and generally excellent remix of The XX’s ‘Islands’. His album is dropping this June and should be quite something!
THE XX – ISLANDS (NOSAJ THING REMIX)
Last but certainly not least is A1 Bassline’s remix of Fugative. This boy sure is good at adapting, now producing techy afrobeat bangers with distinction!
FUGATIVE – SUPAFLY (A1 BASSLINE REMIX)

This trully large update includes some tracks by artists repping the new dubstep style that boasts broken beats, purple sounds and simply more experimental behaviour. Artists like Joy Orbison, James Blake, Rustie, Sduk and Numan are just a few of this clever movement in electronic music. It is sweeping the scene, I mean how many blog top tracks of 2010 has Joy Orbison’s ‘Hyph Mngo’ in it, let alone at number one. This is the stuff we’ll be listening to or should be in 2010, the future of dubstep we hope.
This post is also bringing tracks by Bass Weazal alias Punk Rolla who are making some banging fresh techlectro house tunes. We also have tracks from classic techsters Riva Starr, Renaissance Man and new jacking tech-head Oliver $.
And finally some dirt bashers for all you decibel junkies from Kanji Kinetic, Figure and DZ.
16 BIT – CHAINSAW CALLIGRAPHY (KANJI KINETIC REMIX)
Big thanks to Kid City Blog from who we knicked a few tracks for this post.
And we DO have a best of 2009 coming soon, just you wait.
And terrific news, it seems as though all my blabbing on about Mightyfools has paid off, we have an exclusive interview with them which has been sent off and should be with you in a few days. Exciting! Enjoy the tunes! Peeeeeace

Due to a prolonged festive period, and idleness, we haven’t done a post in yonks! Sorry about that, we’ve got a best of 2009 post coming soon, we hope. In the meantime, here’s some tasty tracks.

Not only do we have many superb tracks for you, but its also worth reminding you for the 10 billionth time that Mightyfools are amazing and their EP ‘For The Kidz’ came out yesterday. Its definately worth a buy, especially ‘Hoo Haa’, my track of the moment. I’m not going to post ‘Hoo Haa’ or any of the others cos they deserve to be bought. But here’s loadsa free beauties ranging from fidget, electro, tropical, tech and dubstep. You may even get some more prezzies on christmas day if your lucky! But there is a guaranteed ‘best of 2009’ post to look forward to.

Loads of new amazingly amazing stuff for you today. First up its Lee Mortimer and Laidback Luke’s much anticipated ‘Blau!’ EP with remixes from Doorly, Noob, Nacho Lovers and LA Riots. I’m not gonna post the original cos you guys should really buy it, but I will give you the Doorly dubstep remix, a great dubstep interpretation of an absolute fidget classic.
I’m so glad this EP has been released. An EP of pure African happiness brought about by Douster, Myd, Radioclit and Lazy Flow. We’ve already posted a low quality version of Douster’s ‘King of Africa’ which incedently is one of the best tracks all year for me, but here’s my other favourite track from this brilliant EP. Buy it buy it buy it buy it.
We’re all over every Sound Pellegrino EP. Even if the artist is obscure, there’s bound to be some big names remixing, and usually the original track is sick anyway. For Nouveau Yorican’s EP there is no exception. Grooving, rhythmic, bongo-filled music porn with remixes from the likes of Harvard Bass, Douster and Sandro Silva.
The Squire of Gothos blew my face off the other day when the first drop of their remix of B. Rich’s ‘It’ll be Alright’ with a trully ugly bassline. Those guys are fucking nutjobs. Also a nice little remix of Jinder for ya.
Next up, new EP from Oh Snap!!, but I’m particularly excited about the Mightyfools remix, naturally. With classic thumping beat and whirring bass, Wizard faves do it again. The EP also features sick remixes from the likes of Jackwob and Treasure Fingers.
‘Pigeon Flu’, a banger resulting from the collaboration Blatta & Inesha and Mustard Pimp……isn’t out yet. Here’s some filthy Blatta & Inesha remixes to keep you going.
Correction: ‘Pigeon Flu’ is out, and here it is. Thank you Rat Rabbits.
Dubstep’s finest Excision and Datsik produce yet another mind-blowing chugger. The same goes for Bar 9.
The Bloody Beetroots extras EP is out and about. Here’s a track and a video and shit.
Yes DJ Manaia, more and more of this everyday please! Angry afrobeat at its best.
Last but not least, new remix from wobble kid Calvertron which, as always, is top quality.
