Debruit is one guy you really should know about. His sound has been described in ways such as, “Heavy wonky beats// Synth Magic// Bump Hop// Kwaito House Riddims// French B-Boy Electro// West Coast Hip-Hop// Hiphouse”. If you’re still trying to get your head round this whole experimental hip-hop business, then this is the shit. It retains its supreme intelligence whilst delivering some really quite catchy or pleasant tunes with his signature bubbling synth and classy deconstruction of samples. Then all of that over some really intruiging yet accessable beats. He really started to get noticed after he released the ‘Let’s Post Funk’ EP back in June which was remixed by the likes of Reso and Octa Pusha. He then continued to improve with his brilliant ‘Spatio Temporal’ EP at the end of last year, a perfect stepping stone into the exciting melding of genres and experimentalism which 2010 was set to bring. His most recent work was an EP to raise money for the disaster in Haiti in which all the tracks are based around Haitian music samples which have naturally been Debruitized! Check out a few tracks from his releases up to about a year ago and then buy the shit out of them.
