Glastonbury was an experience beyond explanation. So much amazing, strange, fun, trippy, euphoric, chilled, banging stuff going on. You could stay in the dance village and dance all day, or chill at the stone circle with a spliff, or go and get stuck in to the best bands the world has to offer, and SO MUCH MORE. Blur was my highlight, having been into them in my childhood and now just appreciating how diversive and musically brilliant they are. Damon Albarn cried on stage which got me going as well!
Animal Collective were out of this world. All of their songs were mixed into one long, dreamy trip with tight singing harmonies and synths. The light show they put on was entrancing and I found myself doing some real hippy dancing throughout the whole thing. ‘Brother Sport’ was the closing song and as thats my absolute favourite, I left on an obscene high!Apart from that, out of the actual bands, I saw Spinal Tap who were hilarious!
The dance village was my home. The weekend was kicked off early on thursday with Raffertie who filled out the Dance Lounge (huge) and as this was one of the only acts on at the time. But he was insane, luring in the unknowing crowd with classic dance tunes and then dropping them into dirty bassline, what a way to start Glasto! I’m not quite sure what days all the rest of the dance acts were on as its a bit of a blur at the moment! But I do remember that we saw Skream & Benga who obviously didn’t dissapoint. Rusko got his bass guitar out and Joker (directed towards by Skream when I bumped into him, hopefully not to get me to fuck off!) was probably my favourite dubstep act. Managed to catch the end of Don Diablo who was well into it before Jack Beats which was pretty empty but fucking awesome as he played all his own tracks (incedently, I heard ‘UFO K–hole bass’ three times over the weekend!!). Scratch Perverts was a let down due to their speakers fucking up even though they had a sick set. Wow loads of others, Deadmau5 was BANGing and Zinc had Benga bigging him up on stage which added to the great atmosphere his sounds produced. Oh, and of course Crookers who got the whole tent stomping even though at one point the speakers fucked up. Annie Mac was very excellent as well playing the best of all genres whilst Caspa played some evil, alien dubstep. Basically the dance village was a massive rave with constant floor fillers of every dance sub genre pumping out all day and night.
As we haven’t been able to bring the tunes, here’s a tasty selection mostly including artists we saw, so it does relate to Glasto a bit?!
Firstly we have a euphoric sexy synth driven tune with some funky bass, resolving into a great house track.
Now a new Crookers remix, jackin house to the max with horns!
One of the classic tunes at the moment. Heard it so many times at Glasto to my great delight. Major Lazer is taking over the blogosphere in a big way.
A dirty dirty dubstep remix of La Roux. Quite similar to all the other of its kind but don’t we just fucking love it!
Zinc is another guy taking over the blogosphere and rightly so with a new sub-genre dubbed ‘crack house’ by the man himself. Formerly known for producing drum ‘n’ bass, he’s been converted to the house side of dance and thank the lord for that. Much the same as Hostage who produces banging electro wobble today after being a d’n’b head.
On the subject of convertion from d’n’b to electro, AC Slater has converted ‘Boom Style’ into some funky, bassy electro. GO ON MY SON!
Sexy techno/electro. Clean, punchy drums have a stabby bass to get you moving.
Not just posting bangers here. The Roots vs. Don Diablo is very cool and respect for MJ on the other Don track.
The mixtape was sent to us by a dude called Company C and its very well mixed with loads of our faves Jack Beats and A1 Bassline.
Get Down – Jack Beats
Its What you do to me (jack beats remix) – Steed Lord
What (Dub) – Jack beats Ft Mc Dynamit
Where’s My Money (Caspa Remix – Jack Beats Re-Edit) – TC
Hooligans (A1 Bassline Remix) – Don Diablo & Example
Back of the Van (A1 Bassline Remix) – Ladyhawke
Don’t Let Go (A1 Bassline Radio Edit) – Yo Majesty
Like to Freak (DJ Bam Bam Remix) – Kelevra
It’s Going Down – Lee Mortimer & Foamo
Manabadman (Andy George Re-Fix) – Toddla T
Thats all from me, we’ll see a lot more posting from ‘The Wizard’ now he’s finished his exams which is very exciting!
LONG LIVE GLASTONBURY!

The new Mightyfools remixes and track on the mixtape are insane and even better than their earlier stuff. We have some truly delicious dubstep for you today. Big shout out to the Hush House blog for a few of these tunes, check out their sick blog on our blogroll.
First we’ve got a naughty DZ bootleg remix of Chase & Status’s classic ‘Eastern Jam’, I say naughty because C&S’s record label have been coming down hard on people remixing it, bastards! It stays true to the original but adds some DZiness to it with machine gun bassy goodness.
Now Skream’s new track aptly named ‘Trapped In A Dark Bubble’. Its not your usual bass orientated dubstep blaster, its more of a journey in a dark bubble to a dubstep beat, with a muddy/bleepy bass pattern repeating throughout the track and electronic string sounds progressing as the journey continues. Bootiful!
Next a Starkey remix of ruuuude Wiley. Lots of lovely noises in the track ranging from dirty bass to hip-hoppy string tunes. ESKI BOI!
Now new kid Cheebs who we should definately be keeping one eye on with sounds that’ll tear your cerebellum! A nice tune putting a deliciously warped synth to work!
Hailing from the southernmost tip of Africa, in Cape Town, where electro and fidget are just taking their first steps into the underground scene, HAEZER, is one the leading producers in africa with some really tasty sound waves. I think the best way to describe his style is what we’ve all come to love the Bloody Beetroots for, electro-punk! We also have a HAEZER minimix with a banging tracklisting that really shows how he’s picking the cream of the crop of the western scene. Now lets hear some South African electro with a selection of his best tracks and the minimix.
1. Show’em the bass(Acapella)
2. Will Smith – Fresh Prince Of Bel Air(Mustard Pimp Remix)
3.N.A.S.A – Gifted(Steve Aoki remix)
4.Zodiac Cartel – We Don’t Play That(Aniki’s Playground mix)
5.Messinian – Throw It Away(Designer Drugs remix)
6.Don Rimini – Rave On
7.Smashing Pumpkins – Zero Machine(Le Castle Vania remix)
8.Foamo – Everything Cool
9.The Bloody Beetroots – Warp(Blaze Tripp remix)
10.Rambrandt – Alarm
I can’t beleive we haven’t posted this yet. One of the best dubstep tracks all year, without a doubt. Lovely ooooozing bass. Really hits the spot! OH YES!!
Sharkslayer have been impressing me recently, they had a whole lot of good tracks out this time last year then produced, well, fuck all since earlier this year. This track ‘Skanking Riddim’ is one of there best, with their classic whirring, trebley fidget sound.
Now two remixes by Gigi Barocco. They’re not new, but i’ve noticed a lack of posting on these two very tasty tracks around the blogosphere. WHY!
Now three tracks which I’ll group together. A Calvertron track, this boy will be big! A new Lee Mortimer remix, nuff said. And a grinding remix by Heavyfeet.

i haven’t posted in fucking ages so here’s a bigg’un. my excuse……..i’ve been busy organising the first wizards are better night. taking place in london on the 9th of july>>>>we’re bringing all our favorites along. MUSTARD PIMP>>STEREOHEROES>>DEM SLACKERS>>KLOSE ONE. be sure to be there. and there’s much more to come!!!! NOW // MUSIC>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
i’ve been loving my dubstep at the moment even venturing into the depths of matter to attend RAM records>>which was insane>>benga and plastician blew me away!!! (but i swear if i hear anymore fucking chase & status i think i’m gonna pee blood…….. yeah saxon’s good but every other fucking song!) so here’s plastician‘s may 09 mix featuring exclusive VIPs aplenty and some serious bass. and, also on the dubstep flavours we got gutfucker (version2) from stenchman. a huge huge portion of your daily bass allowance.
i’ve also been getting highly excited about the sound coming outta this one. GTronic. who has been featured recently but since then we’ve found a brilliant original, slasher, which comes full equipped with GTronic’s already standout hollow roar sound. HUGE!! and a remix of foamo’s ‘everything cool’ probably my fav. of all the gtronic tunes i’ve been able to get my hands on….catchy vocals, a huge drop, this song is every bit the dancefloor destroyer.
we’ve also got a preview of the new lee mortimer and foamo collaboration which is absolutely huge. it’s name is, suitably, ‘it’s going down’. however, it does sound real similar to the rusko remix of day’n’night…but, sick none the less. along with a 1.30 version of UFO (k-hole bass riddem)!!!!!! i cannot wait one more minute for the UFO ep. not one more.
jACK BEATs//UFO (k-Hole BAsS RIDDEM) (1.30 PREVIEW!!!)(REMOVED ON REQUEST)
and yet more. i’ve been loving the remixes that have come out of the kick it ep by ct burners & jubilee, released on the nightshifters label. there’s a superb squire remix and a superb donna summer remix. the squire remix has all that one expects but having never heard donna summer before i was pleasantly surprised. another tune that’s had me double checking my ipod again and again and going>>’gotta remember that’, and i did. so good.
and!!!!!!!!!!! new math head. i think. but none the less good math head. i really can’t get enough of his style. ever. so dark. like burial but interesting…
and finally here’s a little treat that i found on hostage’s twitter. it’s called pissing about and it’s sick. a bouncy, bleepy number that even slips into a bit o drum&bass at the end. sexy. AND the fake blood remix of animal by miike snow. what a song!
