Running out of things to call these massive tune posts, as awesome as they are. ‘The tune station’ isn’t great is it, but I really like the picture, would be nice wouldn’t it, if we could catch gondolas instead of trains, quite impractical though, actually it would be shit. Anyway here’s some awesome new tunes including heavy dubstep, quirky tech, wobbly fidget house and downright madness. Big thanks to A Sound a Day blog for a few of these tunes, and Squeegie for one.

I’ve really come to terms with the mimimal house out there. The funky, tribal and tech house stuff which is a breath of fresh air after a wobbly bouncy house era. I’ve put together my favourite unbassy house tracks into a mix which I’m actually quite proud of. Check it and the three bonus tracks which are tight.

So I did a bit of snooping around and came up with a collection of pretty darn new and pretty darn good tracks from the world of dirt, house and bass. Most of the stuff I came up with is related to the label Potty Mouth Music which is a darn good label! All the tracks are 320 kbps (OK, bar one) and fucking fidgety. Check out the new Mightyfoolsremix who’ve kept their bassy and top quality production and brought in a bit of the new afrobeat style, liking it! In fact every track is superb and I recommend you download all of them and follow these artists closely if you aren’t already. Shout out to Fuck That World and A Sound A Day blogs for some of these tunes.

The Wizards are catching up with the fast growing minimal scene which exploded a few months ago and Renaissance Man (two men actually) have probably left the biggest impression on us. Hailing from Helsinki, Finland, Renaissance Man are producing some originality out of a samey house scene. Thumping yet minimal, yes they’ve done it. We’ve already posted a couple of their tracks, but I still hadn’t delved properly into them and discovered even better tracks, two of them are definitely my most listened this week. One of them is ‘Spraycan’ off the Spraycan EP released back in May on Switch’s Dubsided label, the other is ‘What Is Guru’ off the Aloha EP released the following month on the much talked about Sound Pelligrino label. Here’s a few of their really excellent tracks.
This is the first Renaissance Man track I LOVED. Thumping bass drum, and that’s it for a bit, enter syncopating high synth, then drop into mesmerising and gripping melody and sounds using the high synth and a vocal sample with effects. The second drop then and third then add in a background bass pulsating away with devastating effect. What a tune.
‘What Is Guru’ is my other fave which is definitely swayed by the fact that I love anything which incorporates Indian styley. But the other obvious reason is the crude yet beautiful chopping of the vocals taken from a rendition of the famous Hare Krishna chant to produce a rather jolly little ditty! The Riva Starr remix is very similar but with more bongos, reverb on the vocals and a different structure. Equally fucking amazing.
‘Aloha’ was the title track of their latest EP. It includes a helplessly tribal beat, wailing singing (Hawaiian I assume), deep resonating bass coming in for the drop almost resembling Proxy’s ‘Raven’ bass which is bold in a minimal tune.
The next two tracks a lesser known off the Spraycan EP but still great to listen to. ‘Dubbo’ is very simple yet effective, house beat with some high pitched bongos and a deep, electronic bass sound on the offbeat. ‘Harleem’however is pretty fucking fidgety! Odd, whirring synths form a cool melodic pattern and the track progesses to a higher climax.

after a few months traveling across the vastness that is india i’ve finally returned to london, and fuck, the catching up i’ve got to do!!!!!!
to be honest it’s pretty intimidaing…………..what the fuck man . posts have been too gooooood on wizards!!!
but yes yes after constant ipod and 14h bus rides i’ve got some gems but not necessarily bangers, not necessarily even electronic…..and some ones i’ve spotted over the last day.
i had these 2 songs, along with the new animal collective album, in my head the whole of india. 1st radioactive man, who actually did the first fabriclive cd. he is some bad ass hombre, the mood of this song goes beyond darkness. 2nd is the song at the end of the darjeeling limited (wes anderson, geezer), les champs-élysée by joe dassin and it’s just a beautiful tune.
the new hostage mix, dirrrrrrt!!! (jus click it)

and some sick songs i missed in the past, hot pink delorean are the shit!!! party favour is the fattest tune! and after that sick andy george remix of the futureheads i listened further and his remix of toddla t’s manabadman is HUUUUGE!
and the final batch includes a wicked dub-stepy crookers mix, a nutty remix of warp by dj barletta, a new, and slightly different style, felix cartal remix and finally vouxhall by riva starr….i was previously unacquainted with riva starr but yeah, good good. and especially good seeing as my tickets are booked for bugged out! in union car park!!! SE1!, london, on the 24th of may, which has an outrageous line up: crookers, diplo, boy 8-bit, skream, fake blood, mumdance and now i have riva starr to look forward to as well. this will sell out soon though, very soon.
oh! and for pudding a great dubstep remix of dizzee rascal’s new song bonkers, which features armand van helden, by doorly, sure to be a club hittt! maybe even an anthem of the summer with this remix being it’s evil counterpart. it’s fucking great to be back. peace,
vandalsavage
