Sneaky Peeky

Passion Pit have swept the blogosphere with their catchy electro-poppy stuff, haven’t swept me to be honest. I only heard one single on the radio the other day and it was cool pop but not for me thanks. Got sent this by a random geezer, another new Jack Beats remix. This time of Passion Pit’s ‘Little Secrets’. Jack Beats have definitely started to move away from the almost cliched wobbly bass sound and moved onto more futuristic things. Check it.

Mars Jack Beats Remix

Thanks to Kid City Blog we have a radio rip preview of Jack Beats remix of ‘Mars’. I’m liking it, staying true to the orginal and using some warped glitchy synths. Looking forward to the full release as I’m sure you are.

Dance blog kings Crookers are back with two new remixes. The first of Fever Ray has a slightly minimal tune with a strangely catchy hook and a thumping bass drum. The second of Tiga’s ‘Beep Beep Beep’ includes monotone distorted bass and high ravy synths. Great stuff.
FEVER RAY – SEVEN (CROOKERS REMIX)
TIGA – BEEP BEEP BEEP (CROOKERS REMIX)

Big tune awaiting from Lee Mortimer andLaidback Luke. We only have a sneaky preview, but enough to tell you that there’s a funky wobble monster on the way to tear your house down! The other Lee tune is a remix of Franz Ferdinand is a house version of the original but still very much enjoyable with cheeky synth lines and a thumping beat.
LEE MORTIMER & LAIDBACK LUKE – BLAU PREVIEW
FRANZ FERDINAND – WHAT SHE CAME FOR (LEE MORTIMER VOCAL REMIX)

Fake Blood’s always on fire. The new remix of The Gossip brings the Fake Blood signature sound and uses the vocals excellently. Also get your hands on their superb EP by buying it with the link below!
THE GOSSIP – LOVE LONG DISTANCE (FAKE BLOOD REMIX)
BUY FAKE BLOOD – FIX YOUR ACCENT EP
Sorry that picture is a bit intense, but then again it is Hostage with some new tunes, INTENSE! ‘Badman Sound’ really lives up to its name with whirring mental bass and ravy synths. Hostage has truly switched to the afrobeat as many producers have. It also shows in his other tune ‘Hanging’which is more funky with an old disco sample and a bleepy bendy synth.
HOSTAGE – BADMAN SOUND
HOSTAGE – HANGIN

This mix really contains brand spanking new stuff and really sums up the best dance of TODAY! Get all the tracks off the mix when you can, some you can even find on this blog!

We’re not going soft on ya!
August 23, 2009 · 3 Comments

After a few unhappy comments on my last post about the inevitable invasion of minimal/tribal/tech house, which were actually expected, its probably best we give you some hugeness! You may have to get used to more minimal posts, seeing as us wizards actually quite like it now. But if you think we’re going soft on ya, well then…….you’re very wrong! Wobble and bass is in our veins and we’ll never grow tired of it! Constant bangers will be posted, and here’s a few which I’m loving at the moment.
First two tracks from electro wobbler Sticky K, both worthy of any dirty dancefloor. ‘The Testament of Dr. Mabuse’ sways towards the wobble side with a rhythmic bass synth and a fidgety beat. On the other hand ‘Alphaville’ is a horror film electro banger.
STICKY K – THE TESTAMENT OF DR. MABUSE
STICKY K – ALPHAVILLE
New Jack Beats remix here of guess who, La Roux. This is proper old school Jack Beats , with a definate tinge of their legendary remix of AC Slater’s ‘Jack Got Jacked’, but they also incorporate La Roux’s undoubtedly brilliant voice in the build ups and bridges. The main bassline rhythm is a classic, but certainly nothing new.
LA ROUX – I’M NOT YOUR TOY (JACK BEATS REMIX)
Joker’s on fire at the moment, producing dubstep that is actually pleasant to listen to. No chugging metallic bass (don’t get me wrong, we love hyper dub!). I’m loving this track, warm yet warped bass combined with Mario/Crystal Castles-esque synths creating a groovy dub instrumental.
JOKER – DIGIDESIGN
More dub, but on a different level completely. I didn’t know that there was a Lopside EP by Stagga released a few months back. I downloaded the title track expecting greatness and that’s exactly what I got. This track is all over the place, hence ‘Lopside’, with Stagga’s signature sound pitch bending till your brain melts alongside a chilled beat thanks to the clever use of a ride cymbal.
STAGGA – LOPSIDE
Another man with a particularly superb signature sound is Gtronic. Along with his dirty dirty bass grinding along, there’s some very pleasant synth and vocal melodies in this remix of Heads We Dance’s ‘Sirens’.
HEADS WE DANCE – SIRENS (GTRONIC REMIX)
Rico Tubbs is a man on form. We loved ‘Cutty’ which we posted a few weeks ago. Usual use of a funky disco feel, topped off with his brilliantly created wobbly bassline.
RICO TUBBS – HIP RAVE ANTHEM
This next tune is a real journey. A massive build up including syncopating bongos, interesting effects on the vocals and great production climaxing to a short period of crazy ravy synths.
RQM – BARELY EVIL (BASS WEAZAL VOCAL MIX)
Ha! An absolute classic original track which is Fat Boy Slim’s ‘Right Here, Right Now’ is confidently remixed by Trumpdisco, staying true to the original and bringing it into 2009 by remixing it as an excellent electro banger.
FAT BOY SLIM – RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW (TRUMPDISCO REMIX)
Afrojack has already impressed us with his remix of Silvio Ecomo and Chuckie’s ‘Moombah’ which is probably my tribal house anthem so far this year. His latest remix of Kid Cudi’s collabroation with Kanye West’s ‘Make Her Say’, is more fidgety with a solid beat and bending synths, but he still brings a tribal feel with bongos and cowbells.
KID CUDI FT. KANYE WEST – MAKE HER SAY (AFROJACK REMIX)
Finally we have quite an old tune from Foamo, but a classic none the less. Probably one of his more original and experimental tunes with use of strange ascending bass synths with a few wobbles here and there.
FOAMO – WARDANCE

An uninspired post title to lull you into a false sense of security, HAHAHA! Be prepared for some rather wizz wizz new tunes!
Taken from Bass Weazal’s debut EP ‘Weazal Movement’ released back in may. The least you could expect from those bassy weazals with clean drums and an ominous, whirring bassline.
BASS WEAZAL – JUNGLE MASSIVE
A very big tune at the moment, on all the mixtapes, and rightly so. Drop The Lime gives us another reason to dance to dancehall, with pulsing bass and a stabbing hollow synth.
DROP THE LIME – TABAC THEME
This tune’s been around for a little while now, but not available to us. The S.O.S. boys literally jacked a trombone and tortured it until the creation of a hip-jirating frenzy! Another classic.
SOUND OF STEREO – JACK MY TROMBONE
Wow, this track actually fucking scares me! According to Duel Helix, its a piece of music based on the mental illness of our Universe! That sounds about right. Mr Oizo-esque (but less weird) electro brilliance.
DUEL HELIX – COMPLEX NERVOSA
New boys from the awesome Nightshifters label produce a great track. 2 minutes of relaxing summery build up, then, DROP, a massive bassline and thumping, raw drums which unfortunately doesn’t last for as long as I would have liked.
RAMPAGE – LOVING U IS EASY
Oh, and another FUCKING INSANE mix by my man dingo Dizz from down under and mate Drazz. Even better than his previous mix! Possible? Here’s the proof. Also check out their bootleg of Jack Beat’s ‘Labyrinth’.

Jack Beats….amazing…..as per usual!
July 29, 2009 · 1 Comment

No need to explain why this new Jack Beats remix is so good, cos they all are. I will say that they’ve turned up the treble and used some more ravy synths, but still keeping their exceptional rhythm and spotless production. Be sure to buy the U.F.O EP which will be out on the 3rd of August.

I love when you get some real gems in your inbox from unknown producers which range from giving you a little smile to raging about it all week. Well we have a few impressive obscure artists who need a voice, and my friends, Wizards Are Better is the voice for banging music! We have a mash-up, a couple of original tracks and mixes, but one track I really feel needs a very fucking special mention.
This track is by mod3rn0 who dropped this in our soundcloud about a month ago, now i’ve only just got to grips with all the web thingys we have for the blog since being away in India and found this and it blew my mind! Sounds you’ve never heard in hype hype hyped up disjointed dubstep track. Its Raffertie with the bass turned up and grimed up, possible? apparently yes! CHECK THIS SHIT!
MOD3RN0 - BULLO
The next track is a bouncy crunk track with a safe hip-hoppy vibe to it, maybe its the rapping? I don’t know….. But yeah, would be a great track to drop in most clubs.
TELEVISION TOM – DIZZY WALK (TV TOM’S SHAWTY VOX MIX)
Now a superb mash-up of ‘Love to Edit’ by Crookers and one of the best tracks ever made, Jack Beat’s remix of ‘Jack Got Jacked’ by AC Slater. The track meshes the two original intros together, then drops the ‘Jack Got Jacked’ main drop with a little editing which really hits the spot.
AUDIO/VISUAL – LOVE TO GET JACKED
We’ve had a mix from Company C in a recent post an awesome tracklisting mainly consisting of the best of Jack Beats and A1 Bassline (can’t go wrong!). Now we have another, Ghetto Bass pt. 2 and I here there’s another 2 to come which I’m excited about. I love mixtapes with your favourite tracks on it for the car or just to play at a party, saves pausing the ipod and changing the track! This one has another awesome tracklisting, some of my favourite tracks ever. You’ve found the key to my heart Company C!
COMPANY C – GHETTO BASS PT.2
Tracklisting:
And last but not least, a lovely dubstep mix from J-Drop. This one features some of the most ghetto and dirty dubstep around. Check out the second last track, Adam Prescott’s ‘Recession Beater’, WOOOO!
J-DROP – DUBSTEPPA
Nero – This Way
Jakes & Joker – 3K Lane
Wiley – Marijuana (Ft. Frisco)
TRG – Oi! Killa!
Jakes – Unknown
Ashburner – Stamina
Jakes – War Face
Adam Prescott – Recession Beater
Skream – Lightning (Instrumental)

i haven’t posted in fucking ages so here’s a bigg’un. my excuse……..i’ve been busy organising the first wizards are better night. taking place in london on the 9th of july>>>>we’re bringing all our favorites along. MUSTARD PIMP>>STEREOHEROES>>DEM SLACKERS>>KLOSE ONE. be sure to be there. and there’s much more to come!!!! NOW // MUSIC>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
i’ve been loving my dubstep at the moment even venturing into the depths of matter to attend RAM records>>which was insane>>benga and plastician blew me away!!! (but i swear if i hear anymore fucking chase & status i think i’m gonna pee blood…….. yeah saxon’s good but every other fucking song!) so here’s plastician’s may 09 mix featuring exclusive VIPs aplenty and some serious bass. and, also on the dubstep flavours we got gutfucker (version2) from stenchman. a huge huge portion of your daily bass allowance.

stenchMAN//gutfuCKER (v2)

i’ve also been getting highly excited about the sound coming outta this one. GTronic. who has been featured recently but since then we’ve found a brilliant original, slasher, which comes full equipped with GTronic’s already standout hollow roar sound. HUGE!! and a remix of foamo’s ‘everything cool’ probably my fav. of all the gtronic tunes i’ve been able to get my hands on….catchy vocals, a huge drop, this song is every bit the dancefloor destroyer.
GTronic//SLasher

FOAMO//everyTHing COol (GTronic DIRTy reMix)
we’ve also got a preview of the new lee mortimer and foamo collaboration which is absolutely huge. it’s name is, suitably, ‘it’s going down’. however, it does sound real similar to the rusko remix of day’n'night…but, sick none the less. along with a 1.30 version of UFO (k-hole bass riddem)!!!!!! i cannot wait one more minute for the UFO ep. not one more.

and yet more. i’ve been loving the remixes that have come out of the kick it ep by ct burners & jubilee, released on the nightshifters label. there’s a superb squire remix and a superb donna summer remix. the squire remix has all that one expects but having never heard donna summer before i was pleasantly surprised. another tune that’s had me double checking my ipod again and again and going>>’gotta remember that’, and i did. so good.
