Relatively new producer Mechanical Resistance from Toulouse, France knows how to make heavy banging electro. He lives up to his name by using mechanical grinding bass thus creating absolute stonkers. Check out a few of his new tunes.

The Tune Station
November 7, 2009 · 1 Comment

Running out of things to call these massive tune posts, as awesome as they are. ‘The tune station’ isn’t great is it, but I really like the picture, would be nice wouldn’t it, if we could catch gondolas instead of trains, quite impractical though, actually it would be shit. Anyway here’s some awesome new tunes including heavy dubstep, quirky tech, wobbly fidget house and downright madness. Big thanks to A Sound a Day blog for a few of these tunes, and Squeegie for one.
CROOKERS - NO SECURITY FT. KELIS
STEED LORD – WHO YOU WIT (SHARKSLAYER REMIX)
JUSTIN MARTIN, CLAUDE VON STROKE – BEAT THAT BIRD (RIVA STARR RE-CHUNK)
DON’T PANIC DEAR – SAY SOMETHING (JSAXTON REMIX V2)
DROP THE LIME – DEVIL’S EYES (KANJI’S B-LIVE MIX)
STEED LORD – TRY ME (NIC SARNO REMIX)
TIMOSHI - TOP ONE (DIRTY FREEK REMIX)
INNERPARTYSYSTEM - LAST NIGHT IN BROOKLYN (NUMBERNIN6 REMIX)
SOLO – RAWMANIA

Malente, Dex – Gipsy Kings
November 7, 2009 · Leave a Comment

American born, German based Malente catches on fast. From producing warping bass heavy electro, he moves on to the cheekier side of house, like Riva Starr has done recently. He’s teamed up with German electro producer, Daniel Dexter aka Dex, and using gipsy/jazzy samples but still keeping a thumping beat, they have created a bouncy gipsy house masterpiece. Round Table Knights remix techy progressive remix is also not to be missed of course!

Magik Johnson – Stand Up EP
November 6, 2009 · Leave a Comment
This is the new release by Kiwi dude Magik Johnson on one of the best electro/fidget house labels, Potty Mouth Music. There’s a bit of everything in this EP; quirky and catchy jackin/electro/fidget house. The highlight for me is the Calvertron remix (sorry Magik!). He remixes ‘The Boy Blew’ making it more bouncy and accessible in the first half but obviously couldn’t help but break into his renowned wibbly wobbly style. Here’s some 128 kbps clips to give you a taster. Oh and look out for the next Mightfools EP ‘Worse Than Yesterday’ which should be dropping soon on Potty Mouth.

Bongos and cowbells
November 3, 2009 · 2 Comments

More and more ethnicity is coming into the forefront of house and were loving it. Syncopating bongos, infectious cowbells and the renowned afro-beat are a few aspects of this tribal/funky house business I only came to terms with a few months ago. One new artist, first brought to my attention by Squeegie Sounds blog (as per usual), is French Fries with a fresh, unadulterated take on tribal house. His remixes of The Bloody Beetroots and The Very Best (Radioclit side project) show afro happiness, whilst the original is more of a techy bleeper. If you’re into this scene, you’ll love this.
FRENCH FRIES – COCONUT FT. BAMBONOU
THE BLOODY BEETROOTS - THEOLONIUS (FRENCH FRIES REMIX)
THE VERY BEST – WARM HEART OF AFRICA (FRENCH FRIES REMIX)
One of my favourite artists at the moment, and a hot tip for the future is Beataucue. Tribal/tech/electro, can’t really place him. One simple consistency I find with his music however is a proper thumping bass drum which really boosts the whole sound. This remix of funky boy Solo is no different whilst also incorporating a punchy high synth.
SOLO – RAWMANIA (BEATAUCUE REMIX)
Round table Knights! Nuff said.
SOLO – MINIMOOD (ROUND TABLE KNIGHTS REMIX)
This remix by English funksters Zombie Disco Squad is absolutely bongo ridden! Get yo funk on bitch!
DROP THE LIME – SET ME FREE (ZOMBIE DISCO SQUAD REMIX)
This minimix by DJ Manaia isn’t quite the ambassador for bongos and cowbells, but it does reek of afro-beat. I’d especially like to point out the unreleased original track ‘King Kong’ which is a fucking nasty evil banger! Look for the 20 minute mark.
DJ MANAIA - MINIMIX FOR BELGIUM JACKED TOUR
Tracklisting:
01. Tinny – Zingolo (Doorly Rmx)
02. Buraka Som Sistema - Luanda Lisboa (Nic Sarno Rmx)
03. Genghis Clan ft Mr. Catra - Gatinha
04. A1 Bassline – Here Come Da
05. Diplo & Laidback Luke – Hey! (Black Noise Rmx)
06. Josh Makorto - Jump (Dj Manaia Rmx)
07. Soda N Suds – Fuck House (Dj Manaia Rmx)
08. KuBo ft Joyce Muniz - And You (Dj Manaia Rmx)
09. Dj Manaia – King Kong
10. Dre Skull & Juiceboxxx – Get Hype
11. Kill Frenzy – Violent Kids
